You build a slide to survive a hundred thousand cycles, then derate it — not because the slide gives out, but because the 16 mm particleboard it screws into does. Take the panel out of the load path and the ceiling moves. The insert carries to the floor; the carcass only locates it — so the rating holds the same on 16 mm particleboard as it does on plywood, because neither is carrying anything.
